The Brutes"I hunkered down in the dark, checking out the huge cave beneath me. I'd found it by chance, hours after leaving The Forgotten clan behind. This place was buzzing with the sounds of hard work, metal clanging against metal, and more of the same strange, long bodied creatures sweating it out. They were a tough bunch, working with all their might towards a goal I didn't know.
From my hiding spot, I watched them doing all manner of stuff. Some were banging away at making weapons, showing off real skill with those dextrous hands(?). Others were putting up structures with such ease that I thought surely they must have made these same things a hundred times over. Even though they looked kinda rough, you could sense a brotherhood among them, like they were all in it together. Comradery was something my father often talked about from his younger days in the war, and this felt an awful lot like what he'd described. There was this vibe, though, like they were ticked off about something. It came out in how some of them acted, tough and rebellious. There was an air of defiance about them. It was like they were reproaching somebody-- but who? The place they called home showed they were smart though. Despite all the noise, they figured out how to keep it from echoing all over the place, the sounds bouncing between large stone pillars and swaths of vegetation on the walls to absorb the sound. Big carvings on the walls seemed to tell stories of battles and victories, like a picture book of their tough past. Days later as I got ready to sneak off to the next clan, I couldn't help but admire the Brutes. Their part in this ecosystem wasn't just their strength; it was their ability to work as one, a team. "Strength in unity," they liked to say. It summed them up—hardworking and sticking together through thick and thin. With a nod to the Brutes, I slipped away into the shadows, leaving them to their sweat and stories by the fires. -- Explorer Note ##, found in The Beneath, written by an Unknown Explorer |

Summary
Making up the bulk of the Haedian’s general laborers, this clan lives and dies by the sweat of a long day and a job well done. However, underneath their rugged exterior, there lies a deep-seated resentment towards the gods who seem to turn a blind eye to their struggles and hardships.
Often seen as aggressive in manner. Brutes have a wide range of ideas from warrior-minded people to those who just want to work hard and be rewarded for their efforts. Because of the negative stigma of their clan, other clans are known to avoid them as much as possible.

Clan Trivia |
The Brutes' cavern is a spectacle of industry. Situated in the heart of the underground system, the Brutes have established their massive home as the central hub for accessing other clans.
Despite their gruff exterior, their engineering prowess is evident in their utilization of vertical space and smaller dens. The sounds of their tireless labor reverberate throughout the area, but the Brutes have adapted by implementing noise-blocking pillars and dead vegetation in the ceilings to prevent excessive echoing. Bonfires are scattered throughout the space, serving as communal meeting spots where stories and meals are shared. Carvings adorn the cavern walls, a testament to the Brutes expertise in stone artistry. Scenes of battles, victories, and symbols of strength are etched into the rock, forming a living mural of their heritage. |
